Are you camera-shy?
Job interviews are stressful enough, but video interviews turn the tension up another notch. It sounds easy–a piece of cake–until you actually sit in front of the camera, with no feedback from your interviewer, knowing that you’re being recorded and watched over and over again, maybe by multiple people in the company.
OK, maybe it’s turned up two or three notches.
Remember, video interviewing is a great thing for you. It gets your foot in the door where you might not have been able to before. It gives the company more information from you than they can get from just your resume, which is what you’re after, right? And it shows the hiring manager you can handle the pressure.
The most important thing for you to keep in mind is: Be Prepared. Know typical interview questions and how you can answer them. Practice those until it’s comfortable to answer them. Practice with your own video camera and have friends critique you. Fortunately, Interview On Demand has a helpful section of tips on how to successfully interview through video. Read that. When you are ready, you are lead step-by-step through the process.
It really is easy. And worth it.
